Wrinkle Cure
Wrinkle cure
What are wrinkles?
We all know wrinkles are the funny little lines that develop mostly on a
person’s
face and neck as he or she grows older, and most of us dread their onset,
because once wrinkles start to appear, you can take it as ‘official’ confirmation
that you are aging, a process that is normally hidden from view, and at that
point it's time to look at
wrinkle cure
options, if any.
Well, to answer the above question. Wrinkles develop when collagen and elastin
levels in the dermis, or the second of the skin’s three layers, begins
to drop, either owing to age, or various lifestyle and environmental factors.
Before
we proceed further, it would be good to take a look at a few of these factors.
Folding up…
Most commonly, as we grow older, our skin loses elasticity owing to a drop
in collagen and elastin levels, and is unable to ‘bounce back’ to
its original position after being stretched or strained as quickly as it did
when we were younger. Therefore, wrinkles develop as the skin sags. The sun’s
ultraviolet (UV) rays also have a major impact on wrinkle-formation. These
rays also damage the collagen and elastin network and cause the skin to lose
elasticity.
However, our lifestyles also affect the way we look. The two main culprits
behind wrinkle-formation are smoking and drinking. Both activities dehydrate
skin cells and cause a loss of vitamin C, causing a reduction in collagen levels,
thus accelerating wrinkle-formation.
Fight it...
Around the world, millions and millions of dollars are spent each year on
searching for a wrinkle cure, particularly for women. Of course, not all wrinkles
respond to
treatment the same way. So while it's easier to treat fine lines and wrinkles,
deep lines must be given stronger treatment, like plastic surgery. Obviously,
wrinkle cure includes cosmetic methods as well as medical treatments like surgical
procedures. As a first step, you should make a few lifestyle changes and go
easy on cigarettes, alcohol, and junk food. Also, try and protect yourself
as much as you can from the direct rays of the sun.
However, medical treatments are more effective in the long run because the
commonest medical wrinkle cures involve the use of antioxidants – e.g.
formulas containing vitamins like A and C, beta-carotene, and alpha-hydroxy
acid (AHA). However, one of the most popular forms of treatment is the use
of topical applications that use Vitamin A acid.
Of the cosmetic procedures, the skin peel is the commonest anti-wrinkle treatment.
There are two main kinds of skin peels – non-penetrative and penetrative
peels. Of the first, glycolic acid peels work on the surface of the skin and
are effective only for mild wrinkles. However, penetrative peels like salicylic
and trichloroacetic acids (TCA) produce far better results.
Two other peel types used in wrinkle cure are dermabrasion and laser resurfacing
in which the skin surface is scraped. If you can afford it and don’t
mind light scarring, laser resurfacing is preferable because it increases the
body’s collagen production, even though it may take you longer to recover.
The Botox boom
Botox injections, the craze in recent times in the field of wrinkle cure,
are used to paralyze the nerve endings with botulinum toxin to smooth out wrinkles
and crow’s feet. While the effects last for several months, the injections
are expensive and can be painful.
Finally, there's always theplastic surgery and face lift option as a wrinkle
cure, and a plastic surgeon would have to be consulted. Most likely your Physician
will give you a referral. It is important to consult your physician first
before you seek a wrinkle cure therapy.
